LocalHigh School Senior Eligible To Win New Car With Perfect Attendance
Claxton, GA, September 3, 2009 - Demere NeSmith, General Manager of NeSmith Chevrolet Buick Pontiac GMC, announced today that the dealership is participating for the second year in the ChevyDrive for Perfection Program, an initiative presented by the local Savannah Chevrolet Dealers in conjunction with local School Boards. One lucky high school senior student from 31 schools in 20 Georgia counties will be awarded with a new 2010 Chevy Cobalt sedan for having perfect attendance during the 2009-2010 school year.
According to the US Department of Education, students who have poor attendance for reasons other than illness are also more likely to drop out and to fall behind their peers in the classroom. In its second year, The Chevrolet Drive for Perfection Program was created to give seniors an additional incentive to finish their high school careers strong in order to adequately prepare for post-secondary education or the workforce.
“The Georgia Department of Education is charged with the significant task of educating the state’s youth”, said Demere NeSmith. “NeSmith Chevrolet in Claxton is honored to provide support to them and high schools in our local community”.
At the completion of the school year, a final list will be developed with finalist from the schools and a reverse-order drawing will be held after graduation to determine the winner. Perfect attendance will be determined by an eligible student’s attendance record for the first 180 days of the 2009-2010 school year as submitted by the Local Education Agencies.
NeSmith Chevrolet in Claxton is sponsoring three local high schools including ClaxtonHigh School, PinewoodChristianAcademy, and TattnallCountyHigh School.
